How to Use Oura with Apple Watch: App and Complication Setup

See Oura scores on Apple Watch, install the official companion app, add watch-face complications, and understand why your data may not update immediately.

You can view Oura data on Apple Watch using Oura's official companion app and watch-face complications. The watch displays data synced through your iPhone; it does not connect directly to the ring. Oura's Apple Watch guide

If you already own both devices, you can keep an Oura score close to hand without making it the focus of your entire watch face. Start with one useful complication, then decide whether you need more.

Install the official Oura Watch app

Oura lists Apple Watch Series 4, watchOS 9, and iOS 16 as its minimum requirements. The integration supports Gen2, or Gen3 and later with an active membership. Check the current App Store requirements when installing.

  1. Open the Watch app on your paired iPhone.
  2. In My Watch, look for Oura under Available Apps.
  3. Tap Install beside Oura.
  4. Open Oura on your iPhone and let the ring sync before checking the watch.

These are the installation steps in Oura's companion-app documentation.

Add Oura to your watch face

A complication is a small display within a watch face. Oura provides options including scores, ring battery, and activity progress. Choose a face that supports complications, touch and hold it, select Edit, and select an Oura option in a compatible slot. Press the Digital Crown to save. Oura complication setup

Our suggestion: start with Readiness if your main question each morning is how recovered you feel, or ring battery if remembering to charge is the practical problem. A crowded watch face is not necessarily a more useful one.

Why are my Oura scores stale or blank?

Open Oura on the iPhone and complete a ring sync first. Oura says its Watch data is not updated in real time. How Oura Watch syncing works

Compare the same score in three places: the iPhone app, the Watch app, and the complication. That comparison helps you describe the problem accurately. If the phone is current but the complication is old, report that distinction when asking for support.

Where does Ring Widget fit?

Ring Widget is a separate app with Apple Watch complications and widgets for your other Apple screens. Installing Oura's companion app does not install Ring Widget, and buying Ring Widget does not replace an Oura membership.

If you want to explore Ring Widget's Watch layouts, install its Watch app through your iPhone's Watch app where available, then look for Ring Widget when editing a compatible complication slot. Check its App Store listing for current compatibility and purchase options.

Choose the layout around the metric you actually check. You can also use our iPhone Home Screen setup guide to keep a larger view on your phone.

Do I need an Apple Watch to use Ring Widget?

No. You can use Ring Widget on your iPhone without adding a watch. If you are deciding which device to buy rather than setting up two devices you already own, our Oura Ring versus Apple Watch sleep-tracking guide covers that separate question.

Download Ring Widget free to explore its widgets and complications. Premium features require a purchase.
