Oura Widget Not Working? Troubleshooting on iPhone
Fix stale, blank, or missing Oura widgets on iPhone. Check ring syncing, identify the widget app, and troubleshoot Ring Widget connection or premium messages.
If a Ring Widget widget shows old data, open Ring Widget and tap Refresh Widgets. Apple decides when widgets refresh, and that button asks iOS to reload them right away. If the number is still old, open the Oura app and let your ring sync: new data has to reach Oura's cloud before any widget can show it.
First, check which app the widget comes from. In the widget gallery, a widget listed under Oura belongs to Oura's own app, and one listed under Ring Widget belongs to ours. They are separate apps with different connections and support. Ring Widget is not affiliated with or endorsed by Oura Health Oy.
How do I refresh Ring Widget widgets?
Open Ring Widget and tap Refresh Widgets. The Refresh Widgets button asks iOS to reload every Ring Widget widget right away instead of waiting for the next scheduled refresh. Apple controls when widgets refresh, so opening the Ring Widget app without tapping the button does not reload them, and the app does not run in the background.
Why is my Ring Widget widget still showing old data?
A Ring Widget widget that stays stale after you tap Refresh Widgets usually has one of three causes: the new data has not synced from your ring to Oura's cloud yet, Low Power Mode is delaying widget refreshes, or Ring Widget needs you to connect your Oura account again. Work through these in order:
- Sync the Oura app. Open the Oura app and let your ring finish syncing, then tap Refresh Widgets in Ring Widget again. If the value is missing in the Oura app too, start with the Oura fixes below.
- Turn off Low Power Mode. Low Power Mode delays widget refreshes. Turn it off and tap Refresh Widgets again.
- Check the connection. If Ring Widget asks you to connect, tap Connect Oura and sign in with your Oura account.
- Check for a Premium message. A premium-lock message concerns access to that layout; it is different from missing Oura data. If you already purchased access, check your purchase status in Ring Widget rather than purchasing again.
An unchanged number alone is not proof of failure. Check whether the source value actually changed in the Oura app. Cardio Age and VO2 max change slowly, so they are poor choices for testing whether a widget updates.
Remove and add the widget again
If Ring Widget has the expected data but one widget stays blank or stale, remove that widget and add it again as a last step:
- Touch and hold the affected widget and choose Remove Widget.
- Touch and hold an empty Home Screen area.
- Tap Edit → Add Widget. On older iOS versions, look for the + button.
- Select the correct app, choose a layout, and tap Add Widget.
This removes the Home Screen widget, not the app. Apple's widget setup instructions also cover editing layouts and adding Lock Screen widgets.
Why is the Oura app's widget not updating?
Oura's own widgets show the data from your ring's latest sync, so they cannot display a night your ring has not uploaded yet. Open the Oura app on your iPhone, let the ring finish syncing, and check that the metric you expect, such as today's Sleep Score, appears in the Oura app itself. Oura's widget documentation
If the value is missing in the Oura app, troubleshoot the ring and the Oura app first. No widget, ours included, can show data that Oura doesn't have. If the value is in the Oura app but Oura's widget is still old, remove and add that widget again using the steps above.
How do I report a widget problem?
Contact the app the widget belongs to: Ring Widget support for our widgets, or Oura support for Oura's own. Include the app name, widget type and size, iOS version, whether the same value is visible in the Oura app, and the exact message if one appears. A screenshot helps, but crop out health information you don't want to share.
These details make a report much more useful than “the widget is broken.”
