Oura Widget Not Working? Troubleshooting on iPhone
Fix stale, blank, or missing Oura widgets on iPhone. Check ring syncing, identify the widget app, and troubleshoot Ring Widget connection or premium messages.
If your Oura widget is not updating, open the Oura app on your iPhone and let your ring finish syncing first. Oura's own widgets use the data available from the latest sync. They cannot display a night your ring has not uploaded. Oura's widget documentation
If that does not resolve it, identify which app supplies the widget before changing settings. Oura and Ring Widget are separate apps, with different connections and support paths.
1. Check the data in Oura
Look for the specific metric you expect to see, not just a successful connection to the ring. Is today's Sleep Score present? Is the Cardio Capacity reading available?
- The value is missing in Oura: troubleshoot the source data first.
- Oura has it, but Ring Widget does not: check Ring Widget's connection and any error message.
- The value is present in the app but old on the Home Screen: investigate the widget display next.
This is a useful diagnostic sequence because it narrows the issue before you remove or reconfigure anything.
2. Check which widget you added
If you are unsure, open the widget gallery and look at the app name. A widget added under Oura belongs to the official app. A widget added under Ring Widget belongs to our app.
For Ring Widget, open the app after syncing Oura. Check whether it shows a connected account or asks you to reconnect. Follow a reconnect prompt if one appears. A premium-lock message concerns access to that layout; it is different from missing Oura data. If you already purchased access, check your purchase status in Ring Widget rather than purchasing again.
3. Allow time for the Home Screen to refresh
Ring Widget reads supported data from your Oura account, and iOS controls when its widgets refresh. Opening the app can initiate a refresh, but it cannot promise that every Home Screen view changes at the same moment.
An unchanged number alone is not proof of failure. Check whether the source value actually changed. Cardio Age and VO2 max are particularly poor choices for testing whether a widget updates minute by minute.
4. Remove and add the affected widget again
If the app has the expected data but one widget remains blank, try adding that layout again:
- Touch and hold the affected widget and choose Remove Widget.
- Touch and hold an empty Home Screen area.
- Tap Edit → Add Widget. On older iOS versions, look for the + button.
- Select the correct app, choose a layout, and tap Add Widget.
This removes the Home Screen widget, not the app. Apple's widget setup instructions also cover editing layouts and adding Lock Screen widgets.
5. Report what is still wrong
If the problem persists, record the app name, widget type and size, iOS version, and whether the same value is visible in Oura. Include the exact message if one appears. A screenshot can help, but crop out health information you do not want to share.
Use Oura support for the official app's widgets or Ring Widget support for ours. These details make a report much more useful than “the widget is broken.”
Looking for a different Oura widget layout?
Once syncing works, Ring Widget offers additional ways to display metrics on your Home Screen. Our setup guide shows how to get started. A different app can offer a layout you prefer, but cannot guarantee live updates or supply data that is missing from Oura.
Download Ring Widget free to explore the layouts; premium widgets require a purchase.
